What is eCommerce?

E-Commerce

E-Commerce is the activity of electronically buying & selling products & services online. Also known as electronic commerce or internet commerce, this process began when the internet became widely accessible in the 1990s.

Online Shopping

Online shopping is like having access to a virtual marketplace where you can compare prices, read reviews, and purchase with just a few clicks. It offers convenience and flexibility from anywhere with internet access.

  • User Reviews: which can help to make purchase decisions and learn by the experience of other buyers, and assess the quality and suitability of products

  • Wide Selection: to find specific items, compare prices, and choose from various brands, sizes, colours, and styles
  • Global Reach: It help to make purchase, which is not available in our city but through online shopping, this is available

5 Disadvantages:

  • Shipping Delays: There is many factors such as high order volumes, logistical issues, customs clearance, weather conditions, or unexpected disruption can lead to delays in shipping & Additional costs related to shipping, including packaging materials, insurance, customs fees, and surcharges imposed by shipping carriers
  • Returns Process: Returning or exchanging products purchased online can sometimes be inconvenient. This is because customers may be more likely to return items that they have purchased online than items that they have purchased in a physical store. It may also take time to receive a refund or replacement
  • No Physical Inspection: One major drawback of online shopping is the inability to physically inspect and examine products before making a purchase
  • Fraud Risk: Online shopping scams are becoming increasingly common, so it is important to be careful when entering your personal information or making payments online
  • Customer Service: There are unable to get the same level of customer service as we would in a physical store. If we have a problem with your purchase, we may have to go through a lengthy process to get it resolved

Types of E-Commerce

B2B – When a Business sells a Good or Services to another Business.
B2C – When a Business sells a Good or Services to an Individual Consumer.
C2C – When a Consumer sells a Good or Service to another Consumer (eBay).
C2B – When a Consumer Sells their own Products or Services to a Business or organisation.

BPO comprises of Front Office – Customer Service (like Technical Support) and Back Office – Business Function (like Billing). BPO acts as Barriers between a Company and a Customer.

What is Retail/ Wholesale?

Retails refer to sale of Product by a Business Directly to a Customer without any Intermediary.
Wholesale refer to the sale of Products in Bulk Quantity often to Retailers that then Sold Directly to Consumers.
