'PairD' to Boost Productivity Across Europe and the Middle East

Deloitte is introducing a new artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, called "PairD," to 75,000 employees in Europe and the Middle East. The purpose is to enhance productivity by assisting in tasks like creating PowerPoint presentations, writing emails, and coding. The firm initially launched PairD in the UK in October, but employees have been warned that the tool may sometimes provide inaccurate information. Therefore, they are advised to double-check and verify the accuracy of the chatbot's output before using it for work.
Unlike other companies that collaborate with external AI providers like OpenAI, Deloitte developed its AI chatbot internally through its AI institute. This move reflects a broader trend in the professional services industry, where companies are increasingly adopting generative AI to automate various tasks. For instance, PwC uses AI chatbots in legal and tax divisions to expedite tasks, and law firm Allen & Overy has created an AI tool for contract negotiation.
Deloitte's PairD can be utilized by employees for tasks such as answering emails, drafting written content, coding for automation, creating presentations, conducting research, and developing meeting agendas. The implementation of AI is occurring as professional services firms aim to cut costs amid a slowdown in demand for their services. The Big Four firms, including Deloitte, have announced redundancy programs in response to economic challenges.
Costi Perricos, generative AI leader at Deloitte, emphasized that PairD's rollout is part of the firm's long-term AI investment plans. He highlighted the importance of using these new tools safely to ensure correct application and value creation. Deloitte employees are required to complete a training module before accessing the PairD tool.
Additionally, Deloitte has committed to providing free access to PairD for the UK disability charity Scope. It's worth noting that the rollout of PairD is an ongoing process for Deloitte.
